Bill the joke could be on you!
Normally everybody else has to pick up the work of the lazy people, it only seems like they have found an easy way. Look beyond the task to the wider impacted environment.
But I do get it. I read a story about the rangers in Yellow Stone National Park letting herds of Reindeer into different sections of the park during winter. As the reindeer only want to walk along a less arduous route, with a low gradient and few obstacles, they used the reindeers’ path to build new walkways for tourists in Summer. Saves all that route planning and surveying malachy!
